History of Diwali Festival – Historically, the origins of this feast traced back to ancient India, when it was mostly an extremely important harvest festival. However, there are several legends pointing to the major origin of Diwali. Some people believe it to be the commemoration of the marriage of goddess Lakshmi with Lord Vishnu, while in Bengal, the festive is wholly devoted to Mother Kali, who is the dark goddess of strength. On this special day, the symbol of auspiciousness and wisdom, Lord Ganesha is also worshipped in most Hindu families. Whereas in Jainism, Diwali has added significance to the greatest event of Lord Mahavira acquiring the eternal bliss of nivarna. But most popularly it celebrated in return of Lord Rama along with his spouse Sita and brother Lakshman from his fourteen year long exile and conquering the demon king Ravan. So, in the joyful celebration of the return of their king , the people of Ayodhya, the Capital of Rama, illuminated the kingdom with earthen diyas and many burst crackers.

This feast is widely celebrated across the country with lot of charm, happiness and enthusiasm. The celebration of this blissful occasion includes Diya & lighting, home decoration, shopping, fireworks, puja, gifts, performing religious rituals, feast as well as sharing delicious sweets.
